PBE Games - New (Mostly) Releases

I really need to set a calendar entry for these. I'm terrible at doing them in a timely fashion. Excuses, excuses. The last update was sometime in June, so there are several things to talk about. On the other hand, my output pace as slowed a bit due to other work, so there's not a huge list. Let's just get on with it.
  • First up is a new Uncommon Ground texture: Weaving. This is an upholstery-like pattern in red, green, blue and yellow variants.
  • Ash Wood is a new sandbox hex for Hexed Places. Years ago a falling star landed in this densely wooded area, starting a fire that burned away much of the forest. The woods have grown back in many places, but the area around the landing site is still a burned and blackened ruin. It's probably nothing.
  • I've also released five new Dungeons in Blue Mega Tiles, numbers 16 to 20. These tiles include a confusing mine complex, two watery cavern complexes, a cave and dungeon complex, and a traditional dungeon that's still under construction. You can get all five of these tiles in the Mega Tile Five Pack #4, or get all twenty Mega Tiles in the Mega Tile Big Deal #1. Both these bundles include discount pricing.

That's it for new released products. Looking ahead, I'll be releasing a couple more Uncommon Ground textures plus several sets of Dungeons in Blue Expansion Tiles. Since the end of the original A to Z tile series I've added a bunch of new corridor and passage styles to Dungeons in Blue. Expansion Tiles are complete tile sets that use all these new features, providing you with even more dungeon-building options. I also have another set of five Mega Tiles in the queue, plus more Hexed Places and One Page products lurking in the background.

That about wraps things up. Here are a few images of new and future products to whet your dungeon appetite. Thanks, as always, for reading. Happy gaming.

PBE Games - Dungeons in Blue Mines Packs

There are now three new Dungeons in Blue geomorph packs available on DriveThruRPG / RPGNow. The Mines #1The Mines #2 and The Mines #3 all depict rough-hewn, unfinished corridors and chambers supported by irregular pillars and posts. You can use these tiles to represent mine tunnels or areas that are under construction. All three map tile sets are also available in a discount triple pack.

Since I have a bit of a technical issue getting the preview for #3 posted to DTRPG, I thought I'd share it here. It's fairly representative of all three geomorph sets.

As you can see, there are crossover tiles that connect mines-style tunnels to other room and passage types.

That's it for this update, thanks for checking it out!

PBE Games Update

Time for another update on new PBE Games releases. This post covers late March and early April releases. Most of these are Dungeons in Blue related:

  • Mega Tile Eleven is a traditional dungeon complex with a fortified exterior entrance.
  • Mega Tile Twelve depicts a surface location, a small church with outbuildings and a graveyard. It has stairs / passages down too.
  • Mega Tile Thirteen has stairs and passages that link up with Mega Tile Twelve, so you can use the two tiles as a complete dungeon complex.
  • Mega Tile Fourteen is a large cavern cut by several chasms. Walls and drawbridges protect the crossing points.
  • Mega Tile Fifteen shows a watery cave with a few signs of occupation: a dock, a magical circle, and a few boards along the coastline.
  • Mega Tile Five Pack #3 is a discount bundle that includes these five Mega Tiles.
  • Transitions Two is a set of sixteen 50 x 50 foot tiles that show transitions between various corridor and cave types.
  • Sanded is an Uncommon Ground texture that depicts a smooth grainy stone texture.
Here's a look at a few preview images (one-third scale). You can see previews for all these new products on DriveThruRPG or RPGNow.

Transitions Two preview
You may have noticed some rough, pillared passages in the Transitions Two preview. That's a new style of tunnel / chamber I've added to Dungeons in Blue. I use it for new construction and rough mineshafts. I have three sets of tiles in this style Coming Soon (TM). I'll also be putting out some full mixed tile sets in the near future. These expansion sets will make use of all tunnel, cave, and room formats. Again, Coming Soon (TM).

That's it for now. Thanks, as always for reading.

PBE Games - Latest Releases

Here's a quick update on the latest PBE Games releases, which include some new Dungeons in Blue geomorphs, a pair of Uncommon Ground textures, and a new Hexed Places sandbox locale. Short and sweet:
  • Uncommon Ground Stonerash and Radiated are two stone-like textures. The
first is fairly normal looking, the second includes some unnatural color
    mixes.
  • There are three new sets of Dungeons in Blue geomorphs up. The tiles in
the Big Time series (One, Two, and Three) all include at least one
oversize hallway or cavern. All three sets are available at a discount in
the Big Time Pack too. I've also grouped up a bunch of random one-off tile
sets into the More Parts and Pieces Bundle. This package includes seven
    previously released tile sets.
  • Two Fang Gap, a Hexed Places sandbox locale, is also out. This
mixed-terrain, six-mile hex is split by a deep river. You could swim, or
maybe, risk crossing the gargoyle-guarded bridge.
Here are a couple samples from the above:
Big Time One - Preview
Uncommon Ground - Radiated
I've also done a fairly broad strokes discount pass over all my older products, so if you have anything from PBE Games on your wish list, you may want to take a peek and see if it's been reduced.

Like I said, short and sweet. Thanks, as always for checking out the stuff I post up here. Happy gaming!

They Call it a Mine

Here's a quick WIP look at a new set of Dungeons in Blue tiles that are in the queue. I started messing around with a rough-hewn look for corridors and walls so I can do mines and new construction. This set is all ten-foot halls and chambers, but the next couple will also have some different connection sizes. This is a one-third scale preview.

I'm not sure when this will come out. I want to get the other two sets done, and I've been busting my hump on some freelance writing to pay the bills, so mapping time has been a bit limited. Don't worry, I have a bunch of stuff in the queue.

PBE Games Update

Looking back over my product spreadsheet for PBE Games, I see I've been in Dungeons in Blue mode for the first month of 2015, publishing a trio of Small Dungeons, and five new Mega Tiles. Here's the latest stuff.
  • Mega Tile Six - a large natural cavern crossed by an underground river. Several cliffs and crevices create natural elevation changes and obstacles in the cave.
  • Mega Tile Seven - is a large temple complex with tombs and crypts nearby.
  • Mega Tile Eight - depicts a trio of sewer lines running into a large natural cavern and the river therein.
  • Mega Tile Nine - is a traditional dungeon area with several large chambers and multiple stairways. It's a great level transition piece as it depicts three separate elevations on one tile.
  • Mega Tile Ten - is a huge lava-filled cavern with several elevation changes. Red dragon lair anyone?
  • Small Dungeons #13 - a fortified complex with several large chambers.
  • Small Dungeons #14 -  a very long hallway connecting a natural cavern complex to a traditional dungeon area. Both areas have exits to the outdoors.
  • Small Dungeons #15 - A classic dungeon with a mix of features and some curved corridors to befuddle your mappers.

And as usual, there are deals to be had. Mega Tile Five Pack #2 bundles Mega Tiles six through ten into a discount package. Small Dungeons Map Pack #5 does the same for Small Dungeons #13, #14, and #15.
Small Dungeons #13 Preview
There's a little more variety in the queue for the next month: a few new Uncommon Ground textures; two more Hexed Places sandbox regions, Two Fang Gap and Ash Wood; plus a trio of tile sets featuring over-sized corridors, and more Mega Tiles. I also have a whole bunch of Tile of the Week posts queued up too. Stay tuned.

PBE Games - Last Call for 2014

The end of the year is Coming Soon (TM), so I thought I'd better put out a final update on PBE Games releases before 2014 winds down. I've published close to 150 products this year, about triple last year's total. Here are the latest.

PBE Games - New Product Announcements

It's been a busy couple weeks for PBE Games, and I need to catch up on new product announcements. Here's the latest stuff, all available via DriveThruRPG and RPGNow:

Mega Tile One Preview
On the Dungeons in Blue front, I've released Transitions, a new set of quarter-sized geomorphs. Each of these tiles depicts a change-over point between two or more tunnel styles: standard and natural corridors, grand hallways and caverns, and sewer tunnels. I've also released Mega Tile One, the first of many quadruple-size tiles. The bigger canvas these tiles provide mean I can create spaces more suitable for set-piece encounters.

If you prefer stand-alone maps for the VTT, Oyarza's Lair is now available. This is a black and white, single-level, dungeon map of the abandoned (maybe) lair of the long-dead (maybe) wizard Oyarza, suitable for use in any fantasy role-playing game. The package includes player, GM, and handout versions of the map, along with map notes and a brief history of the site to provide inspiration.

I've also released the first two Hexed Places, The Gray Ribs, and Fen Fields. Hexed Places are outdoor locations and encounters based on the classic six-mile hex format and OSR sensibilities. Use these locales as a quick side adventure, to fill out your campaign sandbox, or expand upon them to create a multi-session campaign. Each includes an overview of the region, expanded one-mile per hex maps for players and GMs (PDF and VTT format), encounter and rumor tables, and descriptions of individual locations, encounters, and features within the hex.

Next up, are Bright Decay, Old Stone, and Freckle Speckle, three new Uncommon Ground textures. All three are stone surfaces, colorful, aged, and spotted, respectively. All Uncommon Ground textures are licensed for private and commercial use.

Bright Decay Preview

Finally, we come to One Page #23: Venoms and Toxins. This table details the appearance and effect of twenty unique poisons. These entries are easily adapted to any fantasy game.

As you can see, I've been busy, but there's more to come. The next couple weeks will see another Hexed Places, a new set of Dungeons in Blue Small Dungeons, more Mega Tiles, and more Uncommon Ground.

As always, thanks for reading and happy gaming!

PBE Games New Releases

Here's an update on the latest PBE Games releases, available via DriveThruRPG, and RPGNow.

First up are two Uncommon Ground textures. Worn Paper is paper, that is worn (duh), and Crinkle Cut is squiggly, slick stone texture. As with all Uncommon Ground textures, these include four color variants each, and they are licensed for private and commercial use.

Next is One Page #22: Weapons with Weird Tricks. This twenty-entry table is all about weapons, wands, swords, bows, and maces, each with a unique magical enchantment, all can easily be adapted to any fantasy RPG.

This week, I've released three new Dungeons in Blue Small Dungeons, numbers 10, 11, and 12. Each Small Dungeon includes a stand-alone and a geomorph-ready version of an underground locale in classic blue style. These three maps depict a shrine complex, an underground river / dungeon complex, and a watery cliff-face cave complex. The bundle deal map pack containing these three Small Dungeons should be up by the end of this week too [edit: or now].

Here are a couple previews:

Uncommon Ground - Crinkle Cut

And that's a wrap, thanks for reading!

PS - Oops, missed one: Dungeons in Blue Sewer Tunnels is a set of simple sewer line passages. As with other simple connector sets, there are no GM versions of these tiles.

Tombs and Crypts
And that's a wrap. If you want to keep up with the latest Dungeons in Blue information, you can always check out the free Master List, which I update with new and upcoming lists about once a month. For One Page, you can get the free One Page Index, which serves the same purpose.

Thanks as always for reading, have a great day!

PBE Games - August Releases

This is just a quick catch-up post on the latest releases from PBE Games. August has been heavy with Uncommon Ground texture packs, and One Page tables. but that's going to change soon, with the release of a new round of Dungeons in Blue geomorphs this week. Here's the already released:

  • Shale Swirl - is a smoothly textured stone pattern with a swirling color scheme.
  • Liquified -shows a flowing stone texture with a soft, monochromatic finish.
  • Tiger - a striped stone pattern with a grainy surface.
  • Sheen - is a smooth stone surface with a flowing, somewhat shiny pattern.
  • Ravaged - is a rough and mottled stone surface.
  • One Page #20 - Strange Writings - twenty odd books, scrolls, and tomes for your game, each with a minor hook.
  • One Page Pack #4 - A discount bundle containing One Page #16 - #20.
  • The One Page Big Deal - An even larger bundle containing One Page #1 - #20.

As I mentioned, there will be three new Dungeons in Blue geomorph sets out this week, sets V, W, and X (curse you alphabet with a non-divisible by three letter count!), which will add 35+ new tiles to the collection. Sets Y and Z will be a bit different. Each contains four double- or quad-sized tiles containing some larger rooms and caves.Of course they have the usual entry and exit layout so they connect up to the rest of the series correctly.

PBE Games - New Stuff

The PBE Games release schedule has been fairly light over the last couple weeks, but it's time for a quick update on what's gone out the door.

Let's start with the Tile of the Week Pack, which collects up my regular Tile of the Week posts from here on the blog into a convenient bundle. It's a pay what you want product, compatible with Dungeons in Blue geomorphs. There are two new Uncommon Ground textures: Harsh Land a rough stone texture with a defined horizontal grain; and Lost Rivers, a pebbled stone texture with definitive flow marks. Finally there is a new One Page table, #19 Eerie Sites and Scenes, twenty creepy places you can drop into any fantasy or horror game.

That's it for updates today, told you it'd be quick. Thanks as always for checking things out! Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

PBE Games and the DTRPG Christmas in July Sale

If you're a tabletop gamer, you probably know about the DriveThruRPG summer sale. Now that the first rush of server-destroying traffic is past, I figure it's time to mention that all PBE Games individual products are included in the sale. What's that include? Here's a brief recap:

  • Dungeons in Blue geomorphs are classic-blue style dungeon tiles designed for use with virtual tabletops. There are hundreds of tiles in the various sets, and more on the way.
  • Each One Page contains a twenty-entry table of fantasy RPG goodness: treasures, strange objects, odd locations, traps, or powers.
  • The Uncommon Ground series provides textures for your fantasy cartography, image creation, or traditional game artwork. Each contains a single seamless, 2k by 2k resolution texture rendered in four different color schemes, and all are licensed for personal or commercial use.
Of course there's more: virtual tabletop maps, including the recently released Black Sage Mine and Traitor's Cavern; the Deadly Blows critical hits tables; the Tome of Names (V1, V2, and V3); and Items of Power (also V1, V2, and V3).

Note: during the sale, bundle deals aren't really deals. The mechanics of bundles make adjusting all the product pricing there time-intensive.

PBE Games - Lots of Uncommon Ground (plus one)

Just a quick note here, to catch up on recent releases. Over the last two weeks I've added several more Uncommon Ground textures to the PBE Games lineup, including Rippled, Acid Etched, Exposed Face, Mud Rock, Crawlers, and Strata. I've also pulled together the various Dungeons in Blue connection tile packs into a discount bundle, the Connections Pack.

The next couple weeks should see another full set of Dungeons in Blue tiles released, plus a new black and white virtual tabletop map similar to Traitor's Cavern. Most of my stuff is fantasy-focused, but the Black Sage Mine could easily be dropped into a western or modern campaign. Coming Soon (TM).

Guess I should have posted this here too. Better late than never!
