PBE Games - Dungeons in Blue and Stuff

I've been remiss in keeping up to date with new PBE Games releases since... July. It's been a somewhat slow year for new products due to time constraints, with only 26 products on the list for release in 2017. Here's a summary of what has come out over the last four months.

We'll start off with five new Mega Tiles for Dungeons in Blue, all available in Mega Tile Five Pack #6. If you're not familiar with this line, Mega Tiles are quadruple-size geomorphs, 200 x 200 scale feet, and most features larger rooms/caves/chambers that won't fit on a standard tile. In brief:

Next on the list is Terminations, a set of quarter-sized geomorphs, each showing one or more dead-end tunnels or caves covering all the connection styles used in Dungeons in Blue. One of the weaknesses of geomorph maps is they have many openings. While this is great if you're building a mega-dungeon, sometimes you want to create something smaller. Terminations tiles bring almost any passage to an interesting end.

The final set of Dungeons in Blue products introduces a new series: Complexes. These geomorphs are a cross between Mega Tiles and Small Dungeons. Complexes have player and GM versions of a 200 x 200 foot tile, and they also include both standalone and geomorph-compatible copies of each map. Use the standalone map for a quick adventure or add the geomorph-ready variant to an existing dungeon complex. Complexes Triple Pack #1 contains the following products:

  • Complexes #1 is a traditional dungeon complex that includes a small temple, throne room and prison.
  • Complexes #2 shows a network of sewer tunnels that connect to an underground river.
  • Complexes #3 depicts another traditional dungeon and includes a minotaur-ready labyrinth.

If you're wondering what Dungeons in Blue geomorphs are, well, I'll tell you. In brief, they're map geomorphs optimized for use with virtual tabletops like Roll20 or MapTool. Maps are PNG-format files, 100 pixels per 5-foot square, and each set include both player and GM geomorphs with hidden doors, tricks and traps shown. Dungeons in Blue tiles use several tunnel styles: 10-, 20- and 30-foot corridors and caves, mine tunnels and sewer lines, and some have underground rivers and lakes or include stairs and outdoor entrances.

Next, we come to Hexed Places. I've only managed to get one of these products out the door this year, but I also put together a free index, the Hexed Places Compendium, that serves as a quick reference to available locales. It also contains a full map key (that I will hopefully remember to follow when creating future products).

The most recently released product from PBE Games is One Page #26 - Crafting Components. Like all One Pages, it lists 20 items you can plug into your fantasy game. Each entry in Crafting Components describes a unique material, where it's found and suggested uses. Use them to send the players off on a quest for an alchemist or as a reward for thinking outside the treasure-hunting box. All One Page products are system agnostic.

That pretty well covers the last few months of PBE Games products. I have two more Complexes sets on the hook to round out the year. I should mention that I've also cut prices on a bunch of older products, including all the Dungeons in Blue Expansion Packs. As always, thanks for taking the time to read what is essentially product shilling. I appreciate your support. Happy gaming.
